The morning of Tuesday, May 3 marked the end of Dancing Classrooms Pittsburgh for fifth-grade students at Pittsburgh Fulton. The cafeteria was the setting for them to move to the Merengue, Foxtrot on the floor, Rumba around, Tango and Scorpion in the room, and Swing to their hearts’ content.
Teaching artist Kelsey Kizina put the students through their workout for all to see. Many thanks to Principal Bivins and his staff, especially Ms. Williams and Ms. Yancey, who learned to dance along with the students over the 10-week, 20-lesson schedule.
We are sad to report that, due to unforeseen circumstances, Pittsburgh Fulton has withdrawn from the Colors of the Rainbow semi-finals on May 7. They will use what they’ve learned and perform for neighborhood groups in the Highland Park area. We wish them all the best and are certain they’ll be a big hit.
