Are you ready? Colors of the Rainbow team finals set for May 21

Is it Saturday yet?

We at Mercy Behavioral Health are eagerly anticipating the Colors of the Rainbow finals on May 21.

The medals  have arrived — gold, silver and bronze.  Sashes and back cards are being prepared for delivery to schools.  Music has been selected, program books designed, and the stage at historic Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall and Museum in Oakland is being set.  And we have a few surprises in store.

Who will take home the trophy for the 2010-11 school year?

Will it be the Red team from the fall, Pittsburgh West Liberty, or the Red from the winter (who will now be Magenta), Pittsburgh Dilworth? The Green from the fall, Dancing Classrooms Pittsburgh’s reigning champions, Pittsburgh Phillips (who will be the Emerald team for the finals) or the Green team from the winter, Pittsburgh Whittier?  What about the Blue end of the Rainbow-the Indigo team from Pittsburgh Sunnyside versus the Purple team from the winter, Pittsburgh Carmalt?  Or will it be the new version of Family Feud — Principal Burgess versus Principal Burgess — the  Yellow team from Pittsburgh Allegheny versus the Orange team from Pittsburgh Linden?

Based on the level of talent we’ve seen in the two semi-final competitions, our judges — Noreen McGinnis Campbell of McGinnis Sisters Special Food Stores, Becky Stern of the Upper Saint Clair School Board of Directors, and Gerry Lavan — will have their work cut out for them.

Join us from 10 a.m. until noon and cheer on your favorite team.
