It’s hard to believe that we have begun our fourth season of Dancing Classrooms in Pittsburgh.

The fall semester looks like  a great one.  More than 500 fifth graders from 10 elementary schools will soon learn to shake what their mammas gave them. More importantly, they’ll learn the life lessons of Dancing Classrooms: respect, teamwork, and self-esteem.

Schools participating in the fall 2012 semester include:  Pittsburgh Carmalt PreK-8, Pittsburgh Concord K-5, Pittsburgh Langley K-8, Pittsburgh Lincoln K-8, Pittsburgh Montessori PreK-8, Pittsburgh Roosevelt PreK-5, Pittsburgh Sunnyside K-8, Pittsburgh West Liberty K-5, and Sister Thea Bowman Academy Catholic Academy.

We’re pleased to welcome two new teaching artists: Ms. Ashley Douglas and Ms. Jennifer Milligan, both whom you will be hearing more about as the semester goes on.  This summer, they spent a wonderful week in New York city with Mr. Pierre Dulaine who taught them everything they need  to know to teach our students.

We’re also happy to report that talented teaching artists Ms. Rozana Sweeney and Ms. Gena Melago are ready for another exceptional semester.

All of us at Mercy Behavioral Health and Dancing Classrooms ask you to join us in sending get well wishes to veteran teaching artist Mr. Terry Sweeney.  Due to knee surgery, Coach Sweeney is taking a break from teaching. He will once again serve as Master of Ceremonies for the fall Colors of the Rainbow team match and plans to return to our team next semester.

So, get ready. . .get set. . .and let’s dance!
