Today, four teams danced their way to gold in Dancing Classrooms Pittsburgh’s Colors of the Rainbow semifinal team match and earned spots in the next round of competition.

These schools will advance to the 2012-13 final team match in May: Pittsburgh Lincoln PreK-5 (Team Yellow), Pittsburgh Sunnyside K- 8 (Team  Indigo), Pittsburgh West Liberty K-5 (Team Red), and Sister Thea Bowman PreK-8 Catholic Academy (Team Magenta).

Placing silver are Pittsburgh Carmalt PreK-8 (Team Purple), Pittsburgh Concord K-5 (Team Blue), Pittsburgh Langley K-8 (Team Maroon), Pittsburgh Montessori PreK-8 (Team Orange), and Pittsburgh Roosevelt PreK-5 (Team Green).

Colors of the Rainbow, sponsored by Mercy Behavioral Health, was held this morning in the auditorium at Pittsburgh Allderdice.  More than 500 fifth graders from nine schools participated in Dancing Classrooms Pittsburgh in the fall 2012 semester. Each school chose six couples to represent them in today’s ballroom competition. Students danced the Merengue, Foxtrot, Rumba, Tango, and Swing before a panel of three judges.

Note: We’ll post more about the event over the next few days, so be sure to check back.
